REITs fell slightly this week on the back of a rate hike by the Federal Reserve and with major indices suffering the impact of banking volatility.
The FTSE Nareit All Equity REITs index was down 0.42% from last week, while FTSE Nareit Mortgage REITs declined by about 5%.
The broader real estate index decreased by 0.82% on a weekly basis.
Fed pushed its policy rate up by another 25 basis points to 5.00%-5.25% in its mission to drive down inflation even as recent bank failures roiled markets.
Meanwhile, regional bank stocks showed volatility in their stock performance this week, which mainly led to the S&P 500 falling by 0.80%.
REIT subsectors delivered mixed returns this week, with the infrastructure subsector down the most by 4.36% and the hotel subsector gaining the most.
